Farewells
The final members of the past Rampage regime have departed to "greener" pastures. Josh Tordjman, who holds the franchise lead in games played (176), wins (82), and shutouts (9), will take his netminding skills 2 hours east down I-10 to Houston. Josh signed a one year AHL deal with the Aeros and will, in all likelihood, backup Anton Khudobin this season. In his 4 seasons with the Rampage, JT had a record of 82-76-10 with a .899 save % and a 2.70 GAA. But more importantly, Josh was a fixture on the ice and in the community. On April 2nd, 2010, JT was named the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award winner as the 2009/10 American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. Josh was instrumental in starting the Face Off Against Kids Cancer Foundation and was always very visible in the San Antonio community. He will be missed.
Also gone from last year is defenseman, Shaun Heshka. The veteran blueliner will be taking his skills to Austria to play for Salzburg. Shaun spent just one season in the silver and black, scoring 7 goals and adding 26 assists in 73 games. He was a decent veteran addition to the blueline corps. But with the addition of Stafford and Yonkman, there just wasn't a spot on this years team for Shaun. Good luck to him as well.
News
Coming about 6 years too late, the club has announced an affiliation with the San Antonio Youth Hockey Association. (SAYHA) The former Jr. Thunder will now rightfully be known as the Jr. Rampage as they should. Getting the Rampage brand out and about is paramount at this level of hockey and nothing but good can come from this affiliation. I am excited both for the team and for the youngsters who will get to don the Rampage logo. Great job, albeit a little late, by the team.
Training Camp!!
The Phoenix Coyotes open training camp in Glendale on Sep. 12th. Follow along here for any updates on potential moves that will affect the Rampage. I will try and stay on top of everything as much as I can. For now, lets enjoy the youngsters (Turris, MacLean, Boedker, Picard) getting their chance to skate with the big boys and possibly make the NHL squad. We will all be pulling for them!
Until next time! LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!!
