Rampage "3 Stars of the Week" Dec 9th-Dec 15th

The road woes continued for the good guys as they dropped two more in Charlotte before registering a weekend split at home. In Charlotte the Rampage dropped game one 2-1 with the lone goal coming from resident tough guy Eric Selleck. Two nights later, the Rampage blew a late lead surrendering two goals in the final 70 seconds, the game winner coming with just 7 seconds left in the game.

The Rampage returned home, where they have been much better this season, on Saturday night and quickly turned things around, scoring three first period goals on their way to a 4-3 win over Chicago. But Sunday brought in the red hot Texas Stars and the good mojo went bye-bye. Texas would score the first 3 goals of the game en route to a 5-2 win sending the Rampage to a 1-3 record for the week.

The Rampage are now 11-14-0-2 on the season and are in 12th place in the Conference with 24 points. They trail the 8th spot by 3 points, but have played more games than both Lake Erie and Hamilton.

San Antonio Rampage “Three Stars of the Week” for the week ending December 8th:

1st Star: Drew Shore (4GP  0G-5A-5Pts   11 SOG  E)

Drew Shore was the best player on the Rampage this week, and it wasn’t even close. Shore has done everything except score a goal over the past 5 games. He now leads the team in assists with 14 and is playing outstanding two way hockey, seeing tons of ice time in all three facets of the game (PK, PP, and 5x5)

2nd Star: Greg Rallo (4GP  2G-2A-4Pts  12 SOG  E)

If there is one consistent for the Rampage, it’s Greg Rallo. Rallo continued his consistent play registering four more points for the week, also seeing plenty of ice time both on the PK and the PP. His perfect centering feed set up Wilson’s PP tally Saturday night and he also added an even strength goal against his old team on Sunday.

3rd Star: Jed Ortmeyer (4GP  2G-1A-3pts  7 SOG  -2)
Ortmeyer has been valuable all season with his ability to play on all four lines and tailor his game accordingly. This week, he played some top 6 minutes and contributed both offensively and defensively. If there is one part of his game that needs to improve, it’s his discipline as he led the team in minor penalties (3) taken for the week.

Honorable Mention: Garrett Wilson (4GP 2G-0A-2pts  6 SOG  -1)
Wilson chipped in goals in both home games over the weekend, one on the PP. His surprising early season offensive success continues. His style of play is exactly what every hockey team needs and, with the right linemates, I see no reason it can’t continue. He may have earned the 3rd Star if not for his "Goalie Interference" penalty in the final minute that led to the game losing goal against Charlotte on Thursday.

News and Notes:
-    Scott Clemmensen will get his 3rd straight start tonight for the Panthers with Tim Thomas out with a minor groin injury. I'd expect Markstrom back in San Antonio once Thomas as healthy, which could be as early as this weekend.

-    I will be taking my family to Disney Sunday through Friday of next week. There will be no "Three Stars" blog and my presence on Twitter will be very limited.
-    Which leads me to this, I hope every single one of you reading this has a fantastic holiday break. Enjoy your families and your friends. Until next weekend, Merry Christmas and GO RAMPAGE!
