The Rampage return to home ice after a 2 game sweep of the Rockford IceHogs on Thursday and Friday. Both contests were hard fought, defensive battles capped off with timely goals and rock solid goaltending.
Friday's contest (BOXSCORE) featured the AHL debut of rookie defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and he was everything as advertised. Smooth and effortless both on and off the puck and the kid has an amazing shot. He was easily the best defenseman on the ice for either club. In my opinion, he was completely robbed of his first goal with the Rampage because both the ref and the goal judge just didn't see the cannon shot. He took a pass from the near side boards, skated to the top of the right circle and shot an absolute laser. The net moved and the puck came straight back out. Not sure how that wasn't a goal due to simple physics, but such is life in the technologically deprived AHL.
Today, the Rampage welcome the Wolves back to San Antonio for the second time this season. The Rampage dropped the Wolves 6-3 on opening night. Matt Beaudoin had a 4 pt night and Ryan Hollweg added a rare multi-point effort as the Rampge cruised to the win.
The team gets another well deserved week off before returning to the ATT Center on Friday night. See you at the rink and LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!
