The Rampage face off against the 1st place Admirals in a rematch of Wednesday night's exciting 2-1 shootout victory. The game had a definite playoff atmosphere and the Rampage really played a disciplined and physical game. The lone Rampage goal was a power play goal midway through the opening period by Bracken Kearns. Kearns deflected a Viktor Tokhonov shot from the blue line past Milwaukee starter Mark Dekanich. The teams would limit each other to few quality chances all game. After finishing regulation tied at 1 goal apiece, the teams would head to OT. Midway through the OT period, Ads goaltender Mark Dekanich would make a routine save on a Randy Robitaiile wrister from the left circle. He was slow to get up and, after a being evaluated by the trainer, would leave the game with just over 2 minutes to go. Backup Jeremy Smith came in and immediately made 3 good saves. In the shootout, the Rampage would get goals from Tikhonov, Ned Lukacevic, and Mathieu Beaudoin. Meanwhile, Matt Climie stopped 3 of 4 shots faced, picking up his 24th win of the season.

The returns of Garrett Stafford and Ryan Hollweg seemed to really ignite something in this team I haven't seen in a couple weeks. They played with confidence and energy. Matt Pope was all over the place, Tikhonov played a fantastic game defensively, and Nolan Yonkman was simply imposing his will on Admiral forwards in the defensive zone. Not to sound like a broken record, but Nick Ross was, once again, his usual solid self. Nothing exciting or flashy, but the kid just doesn't make any mistakes.

The Rampage are now just 2 points back of the Texas Stars for the final guaranteed playoff spot in the division. They are just a single point back of Chicago for 5th which, at this time, would get the crossover spot to the North Division playoffs. The Rampage also have multiple games in hand over everyone they trail, except Milwaukee.

Tonight the Rampage will "Go Green". They will wear these:

That, my friends, is a "bad ass" jersey. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game via silent auction, with the proceeds will benefit the Rampage Jr. Hockey teams. If anyone wants to buy me one, I would certainly appreciate it.

Big game tonight. Bring your drinking shoes (Dollar Beer Night) and your rowdy voices. See you all at the rink, and LETS GO RAMPAGE!!

  1. Any word on why the Admirals 1st "goal" was disallowed? It looked look a good goal from where I was sitting?

  2. The referee told the Milwaukee coach it was "kicked in". Not sure I agree, but I'll take it.
