Apparently, this blog has turned into a monthly endeavor. I'm trying fans, I really am. My resolution last Sunday was to get better at this whole thing. Which means, like all resolutions, it should be abandoned by Feb 1st. Until then, please pass along the web address to any new Rampage fans you know. And by the looks of the attendance every night, there are quite a few of them.
On with the preview...
The Rampage have struggled mightily against the Aeros this season, going just 1-4-1 against the I-10 rival. In two of those games, the Aeros chased the Rampage starting goalies early (once vs. DGM and, most recently vs. Markstrom), both on home ice. The Rampage will need to come out focused against an Aeros team that seems to struggle offensively against every team in the AHL not from San Antonio. They need to stay out of the box and capitalize on any Aeros gaffes.
The Rampage will be just one player from full strength as Bill Thomas has cleared waivers and will be in the lineup this afternoon. His sudden resurgence of offense should be a huge boost to a team that struggles to consistently put the puck in the net. Michal Repik remains in Florida getting some game action with the Panthers while the NHL parent club recovers from multiple injuries.
Speaking of injuries, Jacob Markstrom tweaked his surgically repaired knee in the game Friday night. Coach Kevin Dineen doesn't think it's serious, however, and no call-up from the Rampage is expected. Just getting a couple of days off should help.
I won't be making it to the game today as my kids soccer team has taken precedence. So, cheer loud in my absence and someone please take up the cynical and negative slack that will be present with me missing. Until next time...LETS GO RAMPAGE!!
