Roster Questions Answered

Time for your random summer Runnin With the Herd post. I have seen a lot of questions on twitter, facebook, and message boards about certain players and their status with the team. I will make this as quick and painless as possible (okay, probably not going to be painless).

Signed:

Defense
Alex Petrovic
Nolan Yonkman
Colby Robak
Jason DeSantis (from St Johns)
Tyson Strachan*

* Strachan is on a one-way deal meaning the likelihood of him playing in San Antonio is pretty low, though still possible.

Forwards
Greg Rallo
Scott Timmins
J.F. Jacques (from Syracuse)
Jon Rheault (from Abbotsford)
Anthony Luciani
Jonathan Hazen
Garrett Wilson
Quinton Howden
Drew Shore
Andre Deveaux (from Connecticut)

Goalies
Jacob Markstrom
Dov Grumet-Morris

The following players were Restricted Free Agents and were extended Qualifying Offers (QO):
Michael Caruso
James Wright
Eric Selleck
Brian Foster

These players have two options: Accept the one year qualifying offer or go to arbitration and have an arbitrator decide their fate. Either way, all 4 should be in the organization this season.

The following players were extended QO's but will instead play this coming season overseas (as a result of the offer, the Panthers will hold their NHL rights for this season):
Michal Repik
Roman Derlyuk

NOT extended QO's and will not be back:
Keith Seabrook
Ondrej Roman (signed overseas)

Signed elsewhere:
Jon Matsumoto (San Jose/Worcester)
Bracken Kearns (San Jose/Worcester)
Bill Thomas (Colorado/Lake Erie)
Wacey Rabbit (Norway)
Sean Sullivan(Colorado/LE Rumored)

Remaining unsigned Unrestricted Free Agents:
Justin Bernhardt
David Marshall
Justin Vaive
Joe Devin
Evan Barlow

I hope this helps if you had or have any questions. If something still confuses you, please tweet me @RampageNate and I will get an answer for you as soon as I can. Likewise, if anyone sees any errors or omissions, please let me know.

I'm not happy right now with this offseason, but a lot can happen between now and September. I will withhold judgment until we get closer to a set roster.

Thanks for reading and LETS GO RAMPAGE!

  1. Out of that UFA list I hope we sign Evan Barlow & Marshall... We did not see much of Luciani in SA last season...Do you think that will change this year?

  2. I think Luci spends most, if not all, of this season in San Antonio. I worry about his production, be he needs to sink or swim. Guys his size just don't fare well historically at the upper levels of hockey.
