The Rampage, winners of four straight and six of their last seven, make the short trek east on I-10 to Houston for yet another “School Kids” game against the Aeros. The Aeros had won six straight of their own before losing to Peoria 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. Houston leads the season series 2-1, winning the last two, with all three games played in San Antonio.

The Rampage will, once again, have to clamp down defensively on the Aeros top line as Jason Zucker remains hot and Mikael Granlund has returned from his injury. Unfortunately, the Rampage won’t have the luxury of the late change as the visiting team, so strategy from behind the Rampage bench could be the difference. The others are don’t fall behind early and stay out of the box. The Aeros are 11-2-1 when scoring first and they also have the 5th best power play in the AHL. They aren’t very good on the penalty kill, however, so any advantages the Rampage can get, they need to take advantage.

News and Notes:

- Jacob Markstrom was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week. Markstrom was a perfect 4-0 with a 1.75 GAA and a .949 save%.

- Tyson Strachan did not make the trip and is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury he sustained in Sunday’s win over OKC. I expect Alex Petrovic to return to the lineup to replace Strachan.

- David Pacan was re-assigned to Cincinnati on Monday. With the addition of Jon Sim, Pacan was the odd man out and will get regular playing time back in Ohio.

- With the injury to Strachan, the Rampage veteran situation becomes a little less cloudy. J.F.Jacques should return to the lineup. The only question is, who does he replace? My best guess would be Justin Vaive. Or Weber could make me look silly and just keep Jacques in a suit.

I am working today, so the tweets will be at a minimum (though not absent). Thanks again to everyone who reads on a regular basis. Your feedback is what keeps me going. Please pass along the blog and my twitter ( @RampageNate ) to anyone you feel may be interested. Have a great day and LETS GO RAMPAGE!

  1. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the twitter feed on Sundays when I am at Northwoods watching Wesley's hockey. Of course it is a challenge just to get a signal at times and get the page to load but I follow the game through your eyes while I sit in the box running the clock.
