The Rampage once again head to Houston on a hot streak. With a 5 game point streak after beating Peoria 3-0 last night, the Rampage will hope this trip doesn't end a streak like it did the last time they went east. The Rampage had won four straight earlier this season heading into Houston for a weekday contest with the Aeros and proceeded to get thumped 5-1. The Rampage, still winless on the road against division opponents this season (0-6-0-1), hope to reverse the trend tonight.
As mentioned, the Rampage are coming off a convincing 3-0 whitewashing over the Peoria Rivermen. The Rampage got goals from Jon Rheault, Drew Shore, and Greg Rallo and yet another dominant performance in goal by Jacob Markstrom. It's hard to complain after a 3-0 win, but the power play looked downright terrible last night. The Rampage got seven chances with the extra attacker, but failed to capitalize, and never really threatened to score, against the 28th ranked PK unit.
Houston lost to Texas last night in a hard fought 2-1 game at the Toyota Center. The Aeros lone goal, scored by Chay Genoway, came on the power play early into the 2nd, but that would be all they could muster against red hot Stars goalie Christopher Nilstorp.
The Rampage have won two of five meetings this season vs. the Aeros but lost their only meeting in Houston in the aforementioned school day debacle.
News and Notes:
- Drew Shore continued his season and career high 5 game point streak with a goal last night.
- Jacob Markstrom has now stopped 117 of the last 121 shots taken and is 2-0-1 in his last three starts.
- Dov Grumet-Morris meanwhile has stopped 60 of 63 shots faced in his last two games, both wins.
- Brendon Nash should see action tonight or tomorrow. He will wear #42.
The Rampage return home for another match up with Peoria tomorrow afternoon. I will be in the pressbox live tweeting that game. So until then, you all know what to do...
