A lot has happened since I put up my "Gameday" post a mere 6 hours ago. Without further ado:
Alex Picard will be active and in the lineup tonight for the Rampage. He will be reunited with Viktor Tikhonov and Matt Beaudoin. This line was lights out before Picard's injury, and hopefully can pick up right where it left off.
Now as a result of Picard's return, the Rampage will be over the 5+1 veteran limit meaning a veteran is going to have to be a healthy scratch tonight. This is only my opinion, and I am wrong a lot, but here's what I came up with:
Stafford: Alternate Captain and one of 6 defenseman. He's playing.
Ebbett: He's playing
Picard: He's playing
Hollweg: Team leader and one of the best PK'ers on the roster. He plays.
Prucha: He's playing
Which leaves us with Kearns and Ortmeyer. IMO, the fact that Kearns plays center and has been playing well means he will dress and Orts will sit out. If Kearns is the odd man out, Hollweg would slide to center on the Kearns line.
With all this said, if Phoenix decides to send Nolan Yonkman back to the Rampage, we are in a huge bind regarding our vets. But that hasn't happened and I'm not sure it will, so I will jump off that bridge when I get to it.
Finally, after a lot of speculation and questions, and some deep digging around the internet. I found on the ECHL Transactions page that Joe Fallon was recalled from Las Vegas yesterday. He will be the primary backup to Matt Climie as, according to Rampage radio man Dan Weiss, Al Montoya flew back to San Antonio today and will be examined by team doctors for "concussion like symptoms". Montoya took a nasty hit from Wolves forward Nigel Dawes with about 3 minutes to go in the 1st period Wednesday night. He would stay in to finish the period, but wouldn't return after the intermission. Special thanks to twitter follwer @chrisjerina for the follwing pic:
