The Rampage welcome the former Rampage captain and newly signed Bryan Helmer and his OKC Baron teammates to the ATT Center for a Saturday night clash. The Rampage are 4-1 vs. OKC this season but lost the last meeting 4-1 on Dec. 31st. The Barons are coming off 3 straight wins including a 2 game sweep of division leading Peoria in Peoria. Helmer already has 3 goals and 7 assists in just 5 games and has been a huge addition to the Barons blue line.
Matt Climie was first off the ice at the morning skate and is expected to get the start tonight. As of right now, it looks like Climie will get the lions share of home starts while Al Montoya will get most of his starts on the road. Tonight's game is going to be a struggle for this Rampage team unless they can find a way to get back to basics and defensive fundamentals. The Barons are a very strong offensive team. And the way this Rampage squad is put together, they can't afford to fall behind. They just don't have the talent or the firepower to play catch up.
In an interview with Dan Weiss before Thursday's game, Ray Edwards mentioned he hoped to have Viktor Tikhonov and Mathieu Beaudoin back from their injuries by next Friday. From what I saw yesterday, Beaudoin isn't anywhere near a return. He skated for about 5 minutes, at a very slow pace, then limped off the ice. Tikhonov looks to be close, however, and may be back at practice full speed next week. Jeff May is also practicing with the team and Alexandre Picard is back to skating but is limited.
Tonight is Alamo Colleges Teacher/Student Night. All high school teachers and students can get in free with an ID. So let everyone know to brave the rain and head down to the rink for a good time. Until tonight, see you at the rink and LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!!
GO BARONS!!!!!!!
