The Rampage will try to recover from a disastrous two game home series against OKC that saw the team obtain just one of four possible points against the visiting Aeros. The Rampage are 3-4 against the Aeros this season (2-2 on home ice).

The Aeros, currently 5th in the conference with 70 points, defeated Abbotsford pretty easily last night in Houston 4-1. Mikael Granlund (8-14-22 in 22GP) and Darcy Kuemper (11-6 1.74GAA .940%) were returned from Minnesota early in the week and make Houston one of the teams to beat in the West should they stick around.

The 2012-13 season is winding down, and without a significant winning streak coupled with some help from other teams and good luck, it looks like another non-playoff season in San Antonio. With just 18 games remaining, the Rampage will probably need to go 14-4 just to have a chance at a 7/8 seed. This doesn't even take into consideration the possibility of "3 point" games around the conference.

News and Notes:
- The Rampage acquired (F) Jack Combs from Bridgeport yesterday for future considerations (aka nothing). Combs has had offensive success at every level of hockey, but just hasn't been able to stick in the AHL for extended periods of time for whatever reason. He's on the smaller side and not noticably fast, but he's slick with the puck and a good playmaker. He will wear #5 for the Rampage.

- Justin Vaive is skating with the team and hopes to be cleared for contact on Monday. He hopes to be back in the lineup next weekend.

- The Rampage currently sit 7th overall in attendance per game (6,777). Once again, another testament to the stellar job the folks in the hockey business ops are doing. They aren't likely to reach last year's record numbers, but in this season of craziness, they've done another stellar job.

I'll be attending the next three home games as a fan, so no twitter feed from me. I really do hope you all enjoy my lunatic ramblings when I'm up there. Please feel free to leave feedback on Twitter, Facebook, or here in the comments section about what you'd like to read more or less of on gamedays.

  1. What have you typically seen "future considerations" consist of at the AHL level?

  2. Usually absolutely nothing more than a "next time we need a favor, we'll call you".
