The Rampage, coming off a very rare two points in Texas, return home this afternoon to battle division rival Oklahoma City. The Barons currently sit just five points ahead of the Rampage, so it goes without saying that these next two games have huge implications in the Rampage playoff chase.

The Barons will look like an entirely different team than the version we last saw in San Antonio. The lockout ended, and the "young guns" all went up to Edmonton. That said, this team is still dangerous offensively. Mark Arcobello is 10th in the AHL in scoring with 50 points and recent addition Jonathan Cheechoo has picked up right where he left off when he was last in the AHL with Peoria. Cheechoo already has 8-12-20 points in just 17 games played.

The good news for Rampage fans is that the Barons are still below average defensively and they no longer have Yann Danis (recalled to EDM) behind them to bail them out.

The Barons are also a completely different team on the road. At home, they have managed a 17-9-2-2 record while scoring 3.5 goals per game. On the road, however, the Barons are just 10-13-0-4 and average 2.7 goals per game.

The Rampage meanwhile have won 8 of their last 12. Despite not making up any ground in the points chase, they haven't lost ground either, and unlike three weeks ago, all but 4 teams in the conference have played as many or more games than the Rampage.

News & Notes:

- Forward Jon Rheault was returned from Florida this morning and is expected to be in the lineup today.

- David Pacan was returned to Cincinnati after Rheault's assignment.

- The Rampage are 8-2 in their last 10 home games.

- Justin Vaive had his cast removed and is expected to start skating this week.

- As of right now, Alex Petrovic is still questionable for today's game. I will update on twitter once I hear anything definitive.

I will be back in the pressbox for today's game so please follow along on twitter at @RampageNate. Again, my twitter feed on game days will have some play-by play, but will mostly be editorial stuff on how the team is playing and a lot of off-topic stuff during intermissions.

See you all at the rink!
