Rampage "3 Stars of the Week" Nov 11th-Nov 17th

This week, the Rampage played three games in three different cities over a five day span. After losing to OKC 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon thanks to a Sportscenter Top 10 goal from Linus Omark with just over three minutes to play, the Rampage ran the Wild out of their own gym, winning 5-2 on Friday night. 14 of 18 Rampage skaters registered a point with Greg Rallo (2 goals) being the lone player to record a multi-point game. Saturday, the road weary Rampage would lose 4-2 to Los Icehogs despite another great performance from rookie, Vincent Trocheck. Trocheck would score both Rampage goals and, once again, Dov Grumet-Morris would take the tough luck loss.

1st Star: Vincent Trocheck ( 3GP 2G-1A-3Pts  9 SOG  E)

While both goals came in a losing effort on Saturday night, the rookie continues to impress with his all around game. My favorite part of his stat line is the 9 SOG, which tied for second on the team for the week. All too often, we’ve seen rookies come to the Rampage and play a tentative game afraid to make mistakes. This isn’t an issue with Trocheck. He has a legit chance to be a “one and done” in San Antonio, if not earlier.

2nd Star: Greg Rallo (3GP 2G-0A-2Pts  16 SOG  E)

Rallo continued his early season success scoring twice in Friday’s win over Iowa. He also added a team high 16(!) shots on goal in the three games. To go along with his offensive success, Rallo has played steady defensively and has been one of the team’s best special teams players, most notably on the penalty kill.

3rd Star: Drew Shore (3GP 0g-3a-3Pts  9 SOG  E)

Shore registered an assist in each of the three games played this week and has a four game assist streak going back to last Sunday’s win over Milwaukee. He has struggled to find the back of the net but has started to look more like the player we were expecting when he arrived shortly after the season began. Shore wins the 3rd star on a coin flip over Petrovic based on two things. First, Petrovic was on the ice for 3 of the 4 goals against vs Rockford. Second, with the success that JP and I have influencing player’s career paths, hopefully this highly sought after accolade will jump start Drew even more and he will become an offensive force.

Honorable Mention: Alex Petrovic (3GP 0G-3A-3Pts  6 SOG  E)

Alex was battling with Shore and Ryan Whitney for the 3rd star before Saturday’s game. Because of that pairing’s struggles in that game, Petro will have to settle for the Honorable Mention this week. Still, Petro continues to impress with his two way play. It’s not a matter of “if” Petrovic gets called up to Florida this season, but a matter of “when”.
