Rampage "3 Stars of the Week" - Nov 3rd - No 10th

The Rampage split 4 games last week, losing the first two in Abbotsford and sweeping a two game home set vs OKC and Milwaukee. The last three games all went to a shootout meaning the Rampage earned 5 out of 8 possible points for the week. The Rampage have another busy week coming up with a "Kids Day" game tomorrow morning in OKC, followed by a trip to Iowa and Rockford this weekend.

1st Star: Steve Pinizzotto ( 2GP 2G-0A-2Pts  3 SOG  +2)

Pinizzotto scored the first goal in each game over the weekend in his first two games in a Rampage uniform. After missing the first month of the season with a hip injury, Steve injected some energy onto the 4th line and was moved up to the 2nd line for Sunday's game. The Rampage have been missing depth scoring this season and after two games, Pinizzotto looks like he could get some big goals.

2nd Star: Dov Grumet-Morris (2GP 1-0-1  1.84GAA  .931%)

Grumet-Morris has been the victim of no offensive support from his teammates in this early season. DGM is putting up very good numbers, despite being just 1-4-1 on the season. If you remove his one questionable performance, he has a .940 save percentage and a 1.77 GAA. The problem is that the team has scored 11 goals in his 6 starts. Dov was very good this past week earning the Rampage 3 out of 4 points, including shutting out the Admirals on five shootout attempts on Sunday.

3rd Star: Jon Matsumoto (4 GP 0g-0a-0 pts  8 SOG  +1)

For the second straight week, the numbers don't tell the whole story for the 3rd Star. Matsumoto stayed off the scoresheet during regulation all week, but scored in both shootouts over the weekend, notching the game winner on Sunday. He was also strong in the faceoff circle and Sunday kicked off his "Matsumoto's Rescues" dedicated to helping the stray dog population in San Antonio.

Honorable Mention: John Lee (4 GP 1G-2A-3Pts  3 SOG  +2)
Lee scored his first goal of the season on Tuesday night and added a pair of assists over the rest of week. He also played well in his own end. Lee could end up being a pretty decent bottom pairing AHL guy.

 News and Notes:
  • The Panthers and Rampage made a couple of moves over the the last couple of days. The most significant being the re-assignment of Jacob Markstrom to San Antonio. It will be interesting to see how the goalie rotation shakes out, but if I had to guess, I would put Markstrom starting with DGM backing up. Michael Houser goes to Cincinnati to play a full schedule.
  • Also, the Panthers swapped D-men with San Antonio sending NHL veteran Ryan Whitney to the Rampage and recalling Mike Mottau.
  • Zach Miskovic has been skating and could see action tomorrow. If not, he should be ready to go by the weekend.
