The Rampage picked up a huge 2-1 shootout victory over the host Texas Stars on Friday night. The win was the first vs. the Stars this season and helped the Rampage hold on to their slim one point lead in the division over red hot Peoria. The Stars would strike first 7 minutes into the 1st with a power play tally by Fabian Brunnstrom. But the Rampage would fight back and tie the game late in the first on Brett MacLean's 10th goal of the season when he would put a rebound from a Chris Summers point shot past Richard Bachman. The goal was MacLean's 61st in a Rampage uniform making him the all time goal scoring leader in franchise history. The previous high was held by long time Rampage forward Joel Perrault.
The biggest play of the 2nd period, and possibly the game, was made by Rampage netminder Matt Climie. With the Rampage on a power play, Mikkel Boedker would make an errant attempt at a dump in and the puck was intercepted by a streaking Greg Rallo. After Boedker fell, Rallo would have a short handed breakaway stoned by Climie preserving the tie.
After a hard hitting and back and forth 3rd period and Overtime, the game would be decided by a shootout. Boedker and Matt Beaudoin would both beat Bachman, while Climie made all 3 stops to gain the much needed 2nd standings point and win. (Boxscore)

Tonight the Rampage face the Griffins for the first time this season. The Griffins feature a balanced offense led by Cory Emmerton and Tomas Tatar. They have had trouble keeping the puck out of the net. However, Joey MacDonald was recently returned from Detroit and should see action in at least one game this weekend.

Unfortunately, I have a wedding to attend tonight at game time, so I won't be able to comment on a whole lot about tonight's game. I will have a full weekend recap up Sunday evening. Until then, LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!
