The struggling Rampage head to Milwaukee to take on the Admirals and All Star goaltender Mark Dekanich. The Rampage have lost 5 straight and are struggling to get any kind of offensive flow with the recent callups of Mikkel Boedker and Brett MacLean. Matt Climie has played well of late, but hasn't been able to pick up any wins. Adding to the drama up front, the Rampage will likely be without their two best defensemen tonight as well. Garrett Stafford was injured (upper body) in a game vs OKC last week. He did not travel with the team and is listed as day to day. Also, Chris Summers was called up to Phoenix earlier this week. It is not known when he is expected back.
In potentially good news, Mathieu Beaudoin, Alex Picard, and Viktor Tikhonov have all joined the team and begun practicing. According to Rampage radio man, Dan Weiss (@SARampage_Voice on twitter), Beaudoin and Picard will be evaluated at the morning skate and could possibly play this weekend. Tikhonov is "coming along" but his status is unknown.
The Rampage will continue this mini road trip tomorrow in Rockford before wrapping it up Monday evening in Cedar Park. They will return home for 2 games next week, including a 10:30am start on Wednesday, before getting a much needed week off prior to their annual "Rodeo Road Trip". For anyone outside of San Antonio, the San Antonio Stock and Rodeo show take over the AT&T Center and surrounding grounds for 3 weeks every February. This year, the Rampage will play 9 games away from home in 21 days with only 2 of those coming against division foes. (both vs OKC) If both the Rampage and Coyotes can get healthy, bringing at least some of our core players back, this could be a good chance to gain some momentum heading into the final 6 weeks of the season.
Finally, I'm pleased to announce that Runnin With the Herd will be joining forces with UTSA student, and aspiring sports journalist, Jessica Redfield. Jessica will be working on some "human interest" stories as well as other projects. I really look forward to what she will bring to this blog. Look for her first story in the next couple of weeks.
Good luck to the boys tonight and this coming weekend. Until Wednesday morning, LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!!
