The Rampage wrap up their last extended road trip of the season in a rematch of Sunday's tough 2-1 loss to Milwaukee. After tonight's contest, the Rampage will finish the regular season playing 5 of the final 6 games at home, with a lone trip to Chicago on the final weekend. The Rampage are 21-12-0-2 on home ice compared to just 17-18-3-0 on the road.
The Rampage currently sit 2 points behind Peoria, Chicago, and OKC for the 4th and final guaranteed playoff spot. Currently, those 3 teams are also 2 points ahead of Toronto for the "crossover" spot into the North Division. As of now, the Rampage hold (and cannot lose) the head to head tie-breaker with Chicago by virtue of it's 4-1 record. They are 5-4 vs. OKC with one game left to play and 3-3 vs. Peoria with a gigantic 2 game set coming to town this weekend.
A lot can happen in the final two weeks. I'm not ready to write the Rampage off just yet, but I won't be punching any playoff tickets any time soon either. With 4 of the final 7 games against those teams directly in front of them, they really control their own destiny.
Matt Climie is expected to get the start in net tonight. In his career, Climie is 5-2 with a 1.81GAA and a .932 save% against the Ads, including the playoffs. The Rampage defense had a very good weekend as well, despite only winning 1 of 3 games. The team allowed just 6 goals in those 3 games and gave up an average of just 21 shots per game. Hopefully, this focus on team defense continues for the final 2 weeks.
Garrett Stafford, who was injured over the weekend, will be a game time decision tonight. He is expected to push through the pain and play, however.
It's been a roller coaster season. Let's hope the boys can get us back to the station with smiles on our faces and not with puke on our laps. LETS GO RAMPAGE!!!
If we make the playoffs MacArthur will be back as well. He has been out for a good while but it would be good to have him back.
