The Rampage return to home ice for the first of a 6 game home stand tonight as they battle the dangerous Peoria Rivermen. The team returns home after winning 2 straight over in-state rivals, both on the road, covering the last 6 days. Last Saturday saw the Rampage upend the Aeros in an 11 round shootout, marking the longest shootout in franchise history. Angelo Esposito would get the eventual game winner and earn the team the extra point. Last night, the team traveled to Cedar Park shorthanded to take on the Stars. Earlier in the day, Rampage forwards Bracken Kearns (more to come on Sunday) and Tim Kennedy were called up as late additions to the Panthers. Also missing from the Rampage lineup was Evgeny Dadonov, who took a tough hit to the head in Houston last weekend. He is out with an "upper body" for the time being. The Rampage would win the game 4-3 when Scott Timmins deflected a Colby Robak shot from the left circle past Stars goalie Richard Bachmann with just 1:48 left to play. I will throw up a full recap of the weeks action, including tonight's contest tomorrow.
Peoria comes to town struggling. It probably won't stay that way for long considering the fire power this team possesses. With players like T.J. Hensick, perennial All-Star Brett Sterling, and former Rocket Richard Trophy winner Johnathan Cheechoo, it's hard to imagine the team will struggle for very long. The Rivermen are also solid in goal with Jake Allen and the humongous Ben Bishop between the pipes.
The Rampage figure to be shorthanded again tonight as neither Kearns nor Kennedy have returned. Dadonov is expected to miss tonight's game as well and defensive standout Tyson Strachan is questionable after suffering a lower body injury in last night's game. The loss of Strachan could be the biggest blow as he has really been a force on the blue line, logging a ton of minutes. As a result, Keith Seabrook has been recalled from Cincinnati and will likely serve as the healthy blue line scratch. Brian Foster is expected to start again in goal.
Tonight is dollar drink night. So come loud and come proud. But please stay seated while the puck is in play. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but more importantly, I want to see the GAME! See you all at the rink. LETS GO RAMPAGE!!!
