Friday night, the Rampage ran a rival out of the building. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes, the Rampage "held on" for a 6-2 victory. The Rampage got multiple point nights from a season high 6 skaters and Dov-Grumet Morris was solid in net once again turning away 23 of 25 shots.
Highlights:
- Angelo Esposito trying to celebrate with Keith Seabrook after scoring his goal for the Stars.
- Keith Seabrook yanking Evan Barlow up by his jersey preventing him from sliding head first into DGM.
- Wacey Rabbit doing his best Dikembe Motumbo impersonation. I counted at least 5 blocked shots on the PK, including one without a stick. The whole team has been superb lately at blocking shots, but Wacey took it to a whole new level last night.
- Tyson Strachan saying enough is enough to Francis Wathier's chippy play and constant chirping. No one won the fight, but you have to love seeing a teammate toss the helmet and start the dance at center ice.
- The look on the face of the Stars fan in my section after the final horn. That's a tough ride home. Believe me, I speak from experience.
Tonight, the Rampage take on Houston...again...in the final game before the AHL all-star break. I imagine the same lineup will be in tonight barring any injuries. Houston has gotten some of their players back from Minnesota during their break and will look completely different than the team the Rampage have beaten the last 2 times they have faced off.
-Sean Sullivan is on his way to San Antonio and will join the team after the break. He will replace whichever d-man gets the call to head to south Florida on Monday.
-Jon Matsumoto continues to amaze. Since joining the Rampage, he has 4 goals and 3 assists in just 4 games. I've never seen one player completely change the dynamic of a team like this.
-Dov Grumet-Morris has been outstanding this season. The ONLY thing that concerns me is how slowly he moves side to side at times. There were 3 or 4 very good open net chances for the Stars last night that would have been easy goals for a good team. (see what I did there?)
-The Rampage currently sit in 7th place in the conference just 4 points behind Chicago for 6th.
Tonight's game can be seen on FSSW if you aren't able to make it out to the game. Let's get one more win and head into the break on a nice little 7 game winning streak.
You all know whats next...LET'S GO RAMPAGE!!!
