The Rampage look for their first road win of the season tonight as they face the Rochester Americans in upstate New York. The Americans possess a dangerous offense that sees them score 3.63 goals per game, good for 3rd in the AHL trailing only Syracuse and Grand Rapids. Led by defenseman TJ Brennan, who leads the Americans with 9 goals placing him second behind Justin Schultz for goals by a defenseman, and Marcus Foligno and rookie Brian Flynn up front, the Americans have a dangerous power play and can score in bunches.

In goal, David Leggio is tied for the league lead with 9 wins, though his secondary numbers, a 2.83 GAA and a .913 Save %, are quite pedestrian. He is the clear cut #1 in Rochester and doesn’t split time with his backup like many other goalies do. Rookie backup Conner Knapp has seen action in just two of Rochester’s 16 games played this season.

For the Rampage, Jon Rheault and rookie Drew Shore have developed some great chemistry playing together on a line with JF Jacques and the results have been encouraging. In Sunday’s 5-3 loss vs Texas, the line combined for 3 goals and 4 assists and was a combined +6 earning praise from head coach Chuck Weber in the postgame press conference.

Weber, however, made it very clear that they were the ONLY line worth noting and that there were several skilled players that weren’t giving enough effort. He mentioned that he and GM Mike Santos would look into making changes, and they did.

On Monday, forwards David Pacan and Jonathan Hazen were recalled from ECHL Cincinnati and forward John McFarland was sent back to the cyclones. McFarland showed some promise with his speed, but was just far too inconsistent to merit playing every game right now.

Pacan led the Cyclones in scoring with 3-10-13 and Hazen, after a short 3 game stint with the Rampage to start the season, posted an impressive 6-4-10 with a +7 in just 12 games with the Cyclones. Pacan has size and grit and was known for his tremendous 2 way play in juniors. Hazen meanwhile, is dangerous offensively, but needs improve his defensive game. His numbers, while a small sample size, show that his play in this aspect has improved.

Finally, some good news. Alex Petrovic participated in a full practice yesterday and should be in the lineup tonight barring any setbacks. Expect some changes in the lineup, though. Dan Weiss asked Weber about possible veterans sitting tonight and he said, "Yeah, a veteran, or two or even three perhaps."

Should be an interesting night in Rochester.
