After almost a full week off, the Rampage return to home ice to battle the red-hot Toronto Marlies. After a slow start to the season, the Marlies have won two straight on this Texas road trip riding a rejuvenated offense and a locked-in goalie. After scoring four 3rd period goals to stun Houston on Thursday night, the Marlies and goalie Jussi Rynnas shut out the Texas Stars on Friday in Cedar Park.
There will be a couple of familiar faces to some Rampage fans. Mike Zigomanis played in 27 games with the Rampage way back in 2007 scoring 25 points before being called up to the Coyotes. Defenseman Mike Kostka began the season in San Antonio last year before being traded to Norfolk for current Rampage forward James Wright. Kostka signed with the Maple Leafs as a free agent after winning the Calder Cup with the Admirals last season.
- The Rampage have won 4 straight at home after dropping the home opener to Texas. Toronto, meanwhile, is 3-3 on the road this season but they have allowed 19 of their 28 goals on the road.
- The Marlies are 23rd in the league on the power play at just 12.3%. The Rampage are 2nd in the league having killed 46 of 49 penalties (28 of 30 at home).
- Jacob Markstrom is expected to get the start tonight. It will be his first action since a 3-2 win over Grand Rapids eight days ago. The Rampage schedule has been pretty light the last couple of weeks. That's about to change as they will play 9 games over the last 17 days of November starting with Tuesday's matinee vs. Houston.
Finally, it's important that I mention that tonight is Face Off Against Kids Cancer (FOAKC) Night. The Rampage will wear special jerseys and those jerseys will be auctioned off after the game tonight. This has become a fantastic yearly event and if you can make it out to the game, you really should.
LETS GO RAMPAGE!
